Only on Taskly
One post, the whole situation handled
Several jobs bought as one outcome — one Tasker, one price to agree, no coordinating three trades yourself.

Winterised, roof to ground
Troughs cleared and flushed, downspouts extended away from the foundation, and the outside taps drained before the freeze.
Post this task
No more ice dam
The overhang cleared now, and the attic looked at properly — because the ice is a symptom and the attic is the cause.
Post this task
Back from winter
Flashing and shingle edges checked, moss washed off and the troughs cleared of a season of grit.
Post this task
Selling in the spring
Roof and siding washed, troughs cleared and the streaking gone, so the listing photographs like a maintained house.

Before the first snow
Gutters cleared, hoses drained and the walk ready, so December is not the first time anyone looks.

Back on top of math
A weekly hour on the topics that slipped, worked through at the kitchen table or over video.
Post this task
Walked while you work
A midday walk on the days the office runs long, with a note on how it went.

Local knowledge
Priced for how the GTA actually lives
Four things that change a roof and eavestrough work quote here, and nowhere else.
Freeze-thaw
Ice dams are a GTA failure mode, not a general one
Warm attic air melts roof snow, the meltwater refreezes at the cold overhang, and everything behind that ridge backs up under the shingles. Cities without our thaw-refreeze cycle simply do not generate this failure, and the fix is attic insulation rather than the roof itself.
A fortnight in autumn
The trough window is short and everyone wants it
Clearing has to happen after the leaves are actually down and before the first hard freeze — usually two weeks in late October or early November across the GTA. Booking either side of that crush is materially cheaper and no less effective.
Mature trees
Old Toronto streets fill a trough twice
The Annex, Leaside, Etobicoke and the older suburbs have full-grown maples over the rooflines, and those properties genuinely need clearing twice in a season where a new subdivision needs it once.
Snow load
Flat and low-slope roofs need clearing here
Row houses, additions and commercial low-slope roofs across the GTA accumulate a load that a steep pitch sheds by itself. Clearing it is routine winter work in this city and unheard of in most of the markets our category names came from.
What a Tasker can do here
- Clearing and flushing eavestroughs and downspouts
- Fitting gutter guards along the worst runs
- Sweeping leaves and debris off the roof surface
- Taking snow load off a low-slope roof
- Washing roof and siding to remove moss and streaking
Shingle replacement, flashing repair, re-decking and anything structural is licensed, insured roofer work.
Try nowWhat moves the price
- Linear feet of trough, and how many storeys up it is
- Roof pitch, and whether it can be walked or needs anchors
- How much debris is actually in the run
- Tree cover — a maple canopy means clearing twice, not once
- Time of season: the autumn fortnight is the peak
- Whether downspouts are flushed and extended as part of the job
Worth asking before you accept an offer
- Does this include flushing the downspouts, or only the troughs?
- How will you reach the second storey, and are you insured for it?
- Is the debris taken away or bagged and left?
- For an ice dam: are you treating the ice or looking at the attic?
- Is this quoted per linear foot or as a whole job?
- Will you take photos of the roof while you are up there?

Questions
Frequently asked
GTA-specific answers to what people actually search for.
When should the eavestroughs be cleared?
After the leaves are actually down and before the first hard freeze — usually a fortnight in late October or early November here. Under mature maples, twice in the season rather than once.
Is it gutter or eavestrough?
Both, and Canadians use eavestrough at least as often. They are the same thing, and a quote that uses one word is not offering a different service from one that uses the other.
What actually causes an ice dam?
Heat escaping into the attic melts the snow above it; the water runs to the unheated overhang and refreezes into a ridge that backs everything up under the shingles. Chipping the ice is the emergency response. Attic insulation and air sealing is the fix.
Can a Tasker replace my shingles?
No. Shingle replacement, flashing repair and anything structural is licensed, insured roofer work at height. Clearing troughs, fitting guards, sweeping the roof and washing siding are the ladder-and-labour jobs a Tasker does.
Do gutter guards actually work?
They reduce how often you clear rather than removing the need. Under a full maple canopy they are usually worth it; on an open lot with little tree cover they often are not.
