The standard
Every electricians Tasker clears this first
We don’t show star ratings until real customers have reviewed real jobs. What’s true today is the standard everyone met to get here — so that’s what we show.
- ID verifiedGovernment ID checked before anyone can make an offer.
- Phone verifiedA one-time code, so the number on the offer is a real one.
- InterviewedA call with our team. Every Tasker, no exceptions.
- A real photoA person — not a logo, not a stock image.
- Payment heldReleased only when you say the work is done.
Typical range, GTA
$130–$900
The band is the floor and ceiling the engine prices electrical jobs against across the GTA. It covers labour on common residential work; permits, inspections and any utility charge on a panel upgrade sit outside it and are quoted separately. Generated from the price table.

Only on Taskly

Panel checked, smoke and CO alarms brought up to code and the obvious hazards dealt with while the place is empty.
Post this taskReady for the car
Panel capacity assessed, the charger permitted and installed, and the run made tidy.
Post this taskLighting, all of it
Every fixture that has been on the list changed in one visit, with dimmers where they help.
Post this taskThe room that has no outlets

Local knowledge
Priced for how the GTA actually lives
Four things that change a electricians quote here, and nowhere else.
ESA authorisation
Electrical work is licensed and inspected in Ontario
An Electrical Contractor must be licensed by the ESA, and most work requires a notification and can be inspected. That is a hard line — an unlicensed quote is not a cheaper version of the same job.
Knob and tube
Old Toronto wiring changes everything
Knob-and-tube and early aluminum runs are still in service across the older city, and finding either turns a simple fixture change into a rewire conversation — and can affect home insurance, which is the part people learn late.
Sixty-amp panels
The service size decides what you can add
A lot of pre-war GTA housing still runs a 60-amp service that cannot carry an EV charger or a heat pump. The upgrade is a separate, permitted job and it is the real answer to half the enquiries here.
Condo bylaws
A tower limits what may be run at all
GTA condo corporations restrict work on demising and fire-rated walls and require notice, so an in-wall run that is trivial in a house may simply not be permitted in a unit.
What an electrical visit usually includes
- A licensed electrician and the ESA notification where required
- Diagnosis before any work is quoted
- Making the circuit safe and testing it afterwards
- Tidying and securing the run
- Advising what the panel can actually carry
Permit and inspection fees are separate and are set by the ESA, not the contractor.
Try nowWhat moves the price
- Whether a permit and inspection are required
- The age of the wiring — knob and tube changes the job entirely
- Service size, and whether the panel can carry what you want
- Finished walls and ceilings, and how much has to be opened
- Condo restrictions on in-wall runs
- How far the new run is from the panel
Worth asking before you accept an offer
- Are you an ESA-licensed electrical contractor?
- Does this need a permit and an inspection?
- The house is pre-war — what happens if you find knob and tube?
- What size is my service, and can it carry this?
- Who makes good the wall afterwards?
- Is the diagnosis fee separate from the work?
Three steps
How Taskly works
- 1
Post your task
Say what needs doing and when. Free, two minutes, no account until you accept.
- 2
Compare offers
Verified Taskers send a price and an approach. You see the whole cost up front.
- 3
Choose, then pay
Pick who fits. The money is held and released only when you confirm it’s done.
No lead fees on either side — Taskers don’t pay to make an offer, so you’re not paying for someone’s cost of finding you.

Frequently asked
GTA-specific answers to what people actually search for.
Do I need a permit?
Most electrical work beyond a like-for-like fixture swap needs ESA notification in Ontario. Ask whether it is included and who is filing it — a quote that omits it is not comparable to one that includes it.
My house has knob-and-tube. Is that urgent?
It is not automatically unsafe, but many insurers will not cover a home that still has it, so it often becomes urgent for a reason unrelated to safety. An assessment is the first job, not a rewire.
Why do EV charger quotes vary so much?
Because they are mostly about distance and route from your panel to where you park. A charger on the other side of a garage wall is an afternoon; one across a driveway is a trenching job.
