Only on Taskly
One post, the whole situation handled
Several jobs bought as one outcome — one Tasker, one price to agree, no coordinating three trades yourself.

Fresh before you move in
Whole interior painted while it is empty — no furniture to move, no rooms to work around, and it never gets easier than this.
Post this task
After the trades leave
Filling, sanding and repainting the damage a renovation always leaves, and the dust cleaned before the paint goes on.
Post this task
Kitchen without the renovation
Cabinets sprayed, hardware changed and the walls done — the whole room reads new for a fraction of a refit.
Post this task
Selling in three weeks
Neutral through the main rooms, trim touched up and the scuffs gone, in the order a stager would want them.

Local knowledge
Priced for how the GTA actually lives
Four things that change a painting quote here, and nowhere else.
Four months outside
The GTA exterior window is late May to late September
Exterior paint needs surface and overnight temperatures above about ten degrees, which compresses every exterior job in the region into one third of the year. The crews worth having are booked from spring, and an August enquiry is usually next year.
Pre-1980 stock
Lead paint is a live possibility here, not a footnote
Much of Toronto’s housing predates the lead-paint ban, so sanding back to a previous layer needs containment rather than a mask. A painter who asks the age of the house before quoting the prep is doing it properly.
Plaster, not drywall
Older walls fill differently and take longer
Lath-and-plaster is common across the older parts of the city and cracks, patches and takes primer differently from drywall. A quote priced as if every wall is drywall is a quote that will change.
Condo rules
Lift booking, restricted hours and low-VOC
GTA towers want the service elevator booked, work inside set hours, and low-odour products because a sealed unit does not clear the way a house does. All three change the schedule and therefore the price.
What a painting quote should include
- Filling, sanding and caulking before anything is painted
- Masking floors, furniture, trim and fittings
- Priming bare, patched or heavily colour-changed areas
- Two finish coats unless agreed otherwise
- Cleaning up and removing masking the same day
Preparation is most of the labour and most of the difference between two quotes.
Try nowWhat moves the price
- Preparation — filling, sanding, caulking and priming
- How much trim, and how many doors and windows
- Ceiling height, and whether scaffolding or a tower is needed
- Wall condition: plaster and old patching take longer than drywall
- Colour change severity, which can mean an extra coat
- Condo lift booking and permitted working hours
Worth asking before you accept an offer
- What preparation is included — filling, sanding, caulking, priming?
- How many coats, and is primer counted as one of them?
- What product and finish, and who is buying it?
- The house is pre-1980 — how are you handling possible lead paint?
- Will you put sample patches up before committing to the colour?
- Who moves and covers the furniture?

Frequently asked
GTA-specific answers to what people actually search for.
Why are two quotes so different?
Almost always preparation. Filling, sanding, caulking, priming and masking are most of the labour and none of the photographs. A quote that describes coats but not prep is quoting a different job.
When can the outside be painted?
Roughly late May to late September in the GTA — exterior paint needs surface and overnight temperatures above about ten degrees. The good crews book from spring, so an August enquiry is usually a next-year job.
My house is from the 1950s. Does that matter?
Yes. Pre-1980 stock may have lead paint under the current layers, and sanding into it needs containment rather than a dust mask. Say the age of the house when you post, and expect the prep to be quoted accordingly.
Does expensive paint actually matter?
More than the quantity does. Materials are a small share of a painting bill and labour is nearly all of it, so saving on product to shave a few dollars off a crew-days job tends to buy an earlier repaint.
Should I pick the colour from a chip?
Test on the actual wall in the actual light. North-facing GTA rooms get cold light most of the year and a colour chosen under a showroom bulb often reads differently once it is up. Most painters will put patches up as part of the quote.
