$100–$600
The band is the per-item floor and cap the pricing engine uses for appliance work across the GTA. It covers the common repair and install jobs and excludes the parts themselves, which vary by brand and availability and are quoted by the technician. Generated from the price table, not typed here, so it moves when the table does.

Local knowledge
Priced for how the GTA actually lives
Four things that change a appliances quote here, and nowhere else.
Condo towers
Getting the old one out is half the job
A fridge or washer leaving a GTA tower needs the service lift booked and a loading-dock window, and that booking decides the day more often than the repair does. Swapping an appliance in a house is a different job from swapping one on the 24th floor.
Stacked laundry
Condo closets fit one machine, badly
Much of the newer stock has stacked washer-dryers in a closet with no room to pull them forward, so access is genuinely part of the quote here in a way it is not in a basement laundry room.
Refrigerant rules
A fridge cannot simply be scrapped
Ontario requires refrigerant to be removed by a certified technician before a unit is disposed of. It is why an old fridge leaving costs more than carrying it out, and why an offer that ignores it is quoting the wrong job.
Parts lead times
The part, not the labour, sets the date
Common GTA distributors stock the usual failures; anything else is ordered, and a two-week wait on a board is normal. A technician who names the part and its lead time is telling you what actually decides the timeline.
What an appliance visit usually includes
- Diagnosis and a quote before any work is done
- Labour for the repair once agreed
- Testing the appliance through a full cycle
- Pulling out and reseating the unit
- Cleaning up water or debris from the work
Parts are quoted separately and their lead time is usually what sets the date.
Try nowWhat moves the price
- The part, and whether it is stocked locally or ordered
- Access — a stacked closet pair takes longer than a basement machine
- Condo service-lift booking and permitted hours
- Whether the old unit leaves, and whether it holds refrigerant
- Diagnosis fee, and whether it comes off the repair
- Gas appliances, which need a licensed technician
Worth asking before you accept an offer
- Is there a diagnosis fee, and does it come off the repair?
- What part do you think it is, and is it in stock?
- Is this worth repairing against the age of the machine?
- Do you take the old one, and is disposal included?
- It is in a stacked closet — can you get to it?
- Is any of this gas work?

Frequently asked
GTA-specific answers to what people actually search for.
Is it worth repairing or should I replace it?
The rough test most technicians use is whether the repair costs more than half the price of an equivalent new unit, adjusted for the age of the machine. Ask for part and labour separately — that split tells you more than a single total.
Why is the part taking weeks?
Volume-brand parts are stocked locally. Anything for a European built-in, a panel-ready unit, or a model discontinued years ago is usually ordered in, and a week to a month is normal. Worth asking about availability before committing to the repair.
Can anyone install a gas dryer or range?
No. Gas work in Ontario needs the relevant certification. Electric and plumbing-only installs are ordinary work. Say which you have when you post so the right people quote.
