Only on Taskly
One post, the whole situation handled
Several jobs bought as one outcome — one Tasker, one price to agree, no coordinating three trades yourself.

Garage back to a parking space
Sorted, shelved, and everything else hauled away in one visit, so the car actually fits before the snow arrives.

Move-out, nothing left behind
The furniture that is not coming, the garage shelf, and the pile in the basement — gone before the walkthrough.
Post this task
After the trades leave
Debris hauled, the dust cleaned properly, and everything rehung — the part of a renovation nobody quotes for.

A parent’s house, emptied kindly
Sorted room by room into keep, donate and dispose, with donations dropped rather than dumped.

Local knowledge
Priced for how the GTA actually lives
Four things that change a junk removal quote here, and nowhere else.
Municipal rules
Four sets of collection rules in one metro
Toronto, Peel, York and Durham each set their own oversized-item limits, depot hours and what counts as renovation waste. A load you can legally leave at a Scarborough curb can be a bylaw problem in Vaughan, so the right answer changes at the municipal boundary rather than across the GTA.
Transfer fees
Weight, not volume, sets the disposal cost
GTA transfer stations charge by tonne. Soil, brick, plaster and shingles cost far more to tip than the same truck filled with furniture, which is why an honest quote asks what the material is before it names a number.
Condo towers
The service lift is usually the constraint
Most towers here require a booked service elevator and restrict it to weekday daytime hours. That booking, not the hauling, is what decides which day the job can happen, and it is the most common reason a junk removal gets moved.
Ontario end-of-life
Fridges, electronics and asbestos leave separately
Refrigerant units must be degassed by a certified technician before scrapping, electronics have their own provincial stream, and asbestos is licensed abatement work rather than hauling. A Tasker who takes all of it without comment is the one to be careful of.
What a junk removal usually includes
- Loading from where the items are, not just from the curb
- Transport to a transfer station or depot
- Sweeping the space once the load is out
- Separating donatable items when you ask in advance
- Taking a photo of the emptied space if you are not there
Disposal fees are charged by weight at the station and quoted on top of the labour.
Try nowWhat moves the price
- Volume — how much of the truck the load fills
- Material — soil, brick and plaster tip by weight and cost more than furniture
- Floor and access — stairs, a walk-up, or a long carry to the vehicle
- Condo service-lift booking and its permitted hours
- Items needing a special route: fridges, electronics, tyres, paint
- Whether donations are dropped somewhere on the way
Worth asking before you accept an offer
- Is the disposal fee included in this number or added after?
- Which floor is it on, and is there an elevator or a service lift?
- What is in the pile — any soil, brick, plaster or shingles?
- Does anything here need certified degassing or licensed abatement?
- Will you sweep the space afterwards?
- Can donatable items go to a charity rather than the tip?

Questions
Frequently asked
GTA-specific answers to what people actually search for.
Can I just put it out for City collection?
Sometimes, and it is worth checking first. Toronto takes a limited number of oversized items on a scheduled pickup, but not renovation debris, and Peel, York and Durham each set their own rules. If your items qualify, the cheapest junk removal is the one you do not book.
Why does the quote change once they see it?
Because volume and weight are what is actually being bought, and neither is visible in a text description. Photos of the pile, the floor it is on and whether there is an elevator will get you a number that holds.
Is the dump fee included?
Ask explicitly. Transfer stations charge by tonne, so most offers quote labour and transport with disposal added at cost. That is normal and honest — a flat price that never mentions weight is the one to question.
What happens to things that are still usable?
Say in the post that you want donations separated and most Taskers will drop them on the way. It is not automatic, because a donation stop takes time and some charities will not accept upholstered items.
Can they take a fridge or an air conditioner?
They can move it, but refrigerant has to be removed by a certified technician before the unit is scrapped. Expect that handled as a separate step rather than folded into a hauling price.
What about asbestos?
That is licensed abatement work in Ontario, not junk removal, and no Tasker should agree to haul it. Old vinyl tile, pipe wrap and some textured ceilings are the usual sources — if it is suspected, get it tested before anything is disturbed.
