Plaster and lath
Old GTA walls need different anchors
Lath and plaster is common across the older city and does not hold a drywall anchor. A mount that is fine in a 2005 subdivision can pull out of a 1920s wall, which is why the wall type matters more than the TV size.
Concrete in towers
A condo wall is often solid
GTA tower walls are frequently poured concrete or block, which needs a hammer drill and the right sleeve rather than a stud finder. It is a different job with different tools and a different price.
Fire-rated walls

Condo demising and fire-rated walls are commonly off limits for in-wall cable runs, so the tidy hidden install that is routine in a house may simply not be permitted in a unit.

Why do quotes vary so much for the same TV?
Because the wall varies. Timber stud is straightforward; concrete needs a hammer drill and anchors; plaster and lath needs the fixing to reach something structural. Describe the wall and the quotes converge.
Can they hide the cables?
Usually, but in-wall runs need correctly rated components and may not be permitted on a condo demising or fire-rated wall. Decide before the day and expect it priced separately.
How high should it go?
Lower than instinct says. Sit where you will watch from and put the centre of the screen at eye level. Above a fireplace is the most common regret, and moving it means patching.
