Snaking or hydro-jetting?

A cable cuts a channel through the blockage and gets water moving, which is what an emergency needs. Jetting scours the pipe wall and takes out the grease film and root hair a cable leaves behind, which is what a drain that keeps blocking needs. It costs more, and it is wrong on a pipe that is already broken.

Can I pour something down it instead?

It rarely works on the blockages people actually have, and it makes the next step worse. The liquid sits above the clog and is still caustic when a Tasker opens the trap under the sink. If you have already used one, say so in the post so whoever comes knows what they are opening.

Is a backed-up floor drain urgent?
