Site work means committing to another firm’s schedule for weeks. Tasks here are the other kind: a day of labour, a demolition, moving material somebody underestimated. You take the ones that fit the gaps in your own work rather than building a week around one contract.

What the tasks actually look like

General labour on small residential sites, strip-outs, loading and hauling, a second pair of hands for a trade who is a person short. Mostly a day or less. The posters are usually homeowners or small builders rather than sites, so the work is smaller and the decision maker is standing there.

Do I need my own tools and PPE?

Assume yes and say what you bring. Most posters expect boots, gloves and hi-vis as a minimum, and a task that needed a breaker nobody had is a wasted morning for both of you.

Is this employment?

No. Every task is its own agreement between you and the poster, and you set your own price on each one. Taskly is not an employer and does not place people on sites.

What about work that needs a licence?

Electrical, gas and anything structural needs the licence Ontario requires for that trade. General labour does not. Tasks that need a ticket say so.
