About the role

A Financial Analyst at Taskly (you may see the role called FP&A Analyst, Finance Associate or Finance Analyst) keeps the money side of a two-sided marketplace clear. Posters pay for tasks, Taskers keep about 80%, and Taskly’s share is about 20%, which includes HST in Canada. You model what each completed task earns, reconcile Stripe Connect payouts and forecast across CAD, INR, USD and AED.

You would work with the founder, marketplace operations and the engineers who own payments. Six months in, success looks like a monthly close you trust and unit economics by city and category the founder can decide from. It also looks like a forecast whose assumptions are written down, so anyone can challenge them. You will see every number come from a real task, a real payout and a real person.

What you’ll do

  • Build and maintain unit-economics models by city and category: price per task, the roughly 20% share, payment fees, refunds, support cost and payout timing.
  • Reconcile Stripe Connect balances, payouts and refunds to the database and the books each month. Chase every difference.
  • Prepare the monthly close with the founder and any outside accountant, including HST on Canadian tasks and the different payment flow in India, where payment goes directly.
  • Forecast revenue, cash and costs in CAD, INR, USD and AED with written assumptions and scenarios. Compare them with actuals each month, and explain the gap in two sentences.
  • Track currency exposure and report results in one reporting currency, with the exchange-rate source noted.
  • Analyze fee and pricing decisions, such as what a change in take rate would do to Tasker earnings and Taskly’s margin. Show the answer as a range, not a single number.
  • Write a monthly finance summary in plain language, with the three things that moved most, and why.

What you’ll need

  • 2+ years in FP&A, financial analysis or accounting for a marketplace, payments or SaaS company, including a month-end process you helped run.
  • Strong Excel or Google Sheets modeling: driver-based forecasts, scenarios and clean reconciliations that someone else can check.
  • SQL good enough to pull tasks, payouts and refunds from Postgres and tie them to Stripe reports.
  • A working grasp of revenue recognition, and of gross versus net revenue in a marketplace.
  • Comfort with several currencies and with sales-tax basics such as HST, GST and VAT.

Education: A degree in finance, accounting or economics is the usual route. A CPA, CA, ACCA or CFA is welcome but not required.

Nice to have

  • Experience at a marketplace (Airbnb, Uber, Urban Company, Swiggy, Airtasker, TaskRabbit, Upwork) or another two-sided product.
  • Hands-on Stripe Connect reporting, or accounting tools such as QuickBooks, Xero or Zoho Books.
  • A CPA, CA, ACCA or CFA qualification, or progress toward one.
  • Experience building a forecast for a business that earns in more than one currency.

About Taskly

Taskly is a marketplace for getting anything done. Someone posts a task in their own words — typed, spoken or as a photo — and people who have been reviewed and approved send offers at a firm price. They pick one, and it gets done: a TV mounted, a website built, a parent taught to use their phone. We’re live in Canada and India and opening to more countries, built by a small team that works remotely across India, the US, Canada and the UAE.
