About the role
The SEO Specialist (you may know the role as SEO Manager, SEO & AEO Specialist or Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) Specialist) is responsible for how Taskly shows up in Google and in AI answers from ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews. Taskly publishes thousands of service and city pages, so the work is part technical SEO, part systems thinking and part writing. A small template fix can change thousands of URLs at once.
You’ll work with the Content Marketing Manager, engineers on the Next.js site and the founder. In six months you should have a crawl and index report you trust, a prioritized fix list shipped with engineering, structured data that validates, and a monthly report on search clicks and AI-answer visibility.
What you’ll do
- Own technical SEO on a Next.js site: crawlability, rendering, canonical tags, sitemaps, robots rules, redirects and Core Web Vitals. Test every fix on a sample before it goes sitewide.
- Manage programmatic service and city pages at scale, including template quality, internal links, and thin or duplicate pages to merge, noindex or improve. Decide with data, not instinct.
- Implement and validate structured data such as Organization, Service, BreadcrumbList and JobPosting. Keep the markup identical to what the page says.
- Use Google Search Console daily to watch indexing, queries and click-through rate, and catch drops early.
- Track visibility in AI answers by running a fixed set of prompts monthly in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews, and record which pages get cited and why. Turn the pattern into guidance for writers.
- Research keywords by city and task category for Canada and India, and write briefs with the Content Marketing Manager. Include the questions that people ask AI assistants.
- File engineering tickets with clear acceptance criteria, and check the fixes in staging and then in the live index.
What you’ll need
- 2–5 years in SEO, including at least one site with thousands of pages, such as a marketplace, directory, listings or e-commerce site.
- Technical SEO depth: indexation, canonicals, hreflang, JavaScript rendering and sitemaps, ideally on Next.js or a similar framework.
- Daily use of Google Search Console, Screaming Frog, Ahrefs or Semrush, and GA4.
- The ability to read HTML and Schema.org JSON-LD, and to explain a fix to an engineer.
- Evidence of impact: a before-and-after you caused, with the numbers.
- Comfort writing tickets and reviewing pull requests with engineers, so fixes ship instead of sitting in a spreadsheet.
Education: A degree is welcome but not required; sites you have grown matter more.
Nice to have
- Programmatic SEO at a marketplace (Airbnb, Uber, Urban Company, Swiggy, Airtasker, TaskRabbit, Upwork) or another two-sided product.
- Experience on multi-country sites.
- SQL or Python for log-file and large-scale URL analysis.
- Published results from tests on AI-answer visibility.

About Taskly
Taskly is a marketplace for getting anything done. Someone posts a task in their own words — typed, spoken or as a photo — and people who have been reviewed and approved send offers at a firm price. They pick one, and it gets done: a TV mounted, a website built, a parent taught to use their phone. We’re live in Canada and India and opening to more countries, built by a small team that works remotely across India, the US, Canada and the UAE.

Something else? Ask it in your application. A person reads it and answers within ten working days.
